Vice Admiral AB Singh is an alumnus of UP Sainik School & National Defence Academy. He served the Indian Navy for almost 40 years and retired as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOC-in-C), Western Naval Command. He also had the unique distinction of being the FOC-in-C, Eastern Naval Command. He has also served in Four Tri-service appointments including Dy CinC Strategic Forces Command, and in HQIDS as DCIDS (DOT) & DCIDS (Ops). He was also associated with the initial setting up of organisation of CDS & Department of Military Affairs. He also was responsible for conduct of various studies related to Theatre Commands and the Maritime Theatre Command.
