Sh. K. Rajendra Kumar retired on December 31, 2016, as the Director General of Police (DGP) and Inspector General of Police (IGP), having served with honor for over 32 years. His career was marked by numerous challenging and sensitive assignments, most notably combating Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and handling violent law and order situations such as the Amarnath land row and various terrorist-inspired agitations in the Kashmir valley. His expertise extended to managing communal riots, ensuring VIP security, leading counter-terrorism operations, and conducting elections under hostile circumstances besides handling Crime control and other Law and Order situations. He also served on a United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Mozambique (Africa) in 1994. Throughout his career, he attended several prestigious courses on policing, national security, and management both in India and abroad.
