Mr Sanjeev Sanyal, Member of the Economic Advisory Council for the Prime Minister of India. Mr Sanjeev Sanyal serves as a member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister and as Secretary to the Government of India. Previously, he was the Principal Economic Adviser to the Finance Minister from 2017 to 2022. A respected economist, he represented India on various international forums including the OECD and G7, and co-chaired the G20’s Framework Working Group, playing a pivotal role in crafting the G20’s Global Action Plan during the Covid-19 pandemic. Prior to his government service, he had a two-decade-long career in financial markets, including a role as Global Strategist and Managing Director at Deutsche Bank. Educated at Shri Ram College of Commerce and Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar, Mr. Sanyal has also been affiliated with multiple academic and environmental organisations worldwide. He is an acclaimed author of several best-selling books on Indian history and economics, contributing significantly to both literary and academic discourse.
